About the Programme

Calling Transition Year Students Across Ireland!

‘Design Your Future City’ is a free week-long programme for TY students offered by Academy of the Near Future, a collaboration between CONNECT, the SFI Research Centre for Future Networks headquartered at Trinity College Dublin and Dublin City Council.

This year the programme is taking place during Climate Action Week at Trinity College Dublin, and content will focus on sustainability and the environment. During the week, students will explore the role of technology and innovation in addressing climate challenges through hands-on workshops and creative activities. You’ll learn about the climate challenges facing our towns and cities and create your own idea to try and solve them!

Highlights from the week include:

- Participating in interactive art, design, communication and science workshops which call on you to work with others and problem solve.

- Collaborating with the Critical Change Lab in TCD School of Education to develop global citizenship skills.

- Experimenting with citizen science to tackle a changing climate

- Meeting STEM, design and innovation experts who will help bring your ideas to life.

This unique programme is a fantastic way to build confidence, get creative, learn new skills and, most importantly, have fun!

📍 Location: Naughton Institute, Trinity College Dublin

🗓️ Dates: Monday 14th - Friday 18th October

My high point of the week was making friends and doing all the fun activities with everyone. It was such a comfortable environment where everyone was so kind and I felt like I could be myself.
