We’re calling Transition Year students across Ireland to identify a challenge in their local area for a chance to participate in our Visioneers TY Week!

The Visioneers TY Week is a chance for Transition Year students to explore science, engineering, art and design. The TY Week is a placement experience at Dublin City Council and at the CONNECT Centre in Trinity College Dublin. During the week, students will explore the future of cities through collaborative and interdisciplinary workshops and discussion aimed at fostering creativity and critical thinking. Students will be introduced to smart city technologies and supported to become smart technology innovators, developing their own solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing our cities and towns both now and in the future.

Who can apply?

The Visioneers National Challenge is open to Transition Year students and home educated students based in the Republic of Ireland. This TY Week is for the curious and the inexperienced. You don’t need to be familiar with coding or tech, just be enthusiastic about creating better future cities, towns and communities! It is not necessary to have attended one of our Visioneers workshops to enter.

How to apply?

To apply for a place on our Visioneers TY Week, you’ll need to complete this application form.

To enter, we want you to identify and describe a city, town or community challenge in your local area. Entries should demonstrate who the problem impacts and be supported by data (think anything from interviews to online research!).

Transition Year students may submit applications from Sep. 1st 2021 to Jan 31st 2022

20 students will be selected to attend our Visioneers TY Week. Participants will be informed in Feb 2022 with the TY Week taking place in March 2022.
